Cooking Birthday Bash

We had a cooking party for Sawyer this year. I was trying to figure out what to do for a birthday theme, and I couldn't pass it up with his cooking obsession. We had family over to our new home. I put up some fun 'cooking' decorations and we did a potato bar. Sawyer got absolutely spoiled. Thanks to everyone for all the nice gifts!
The handsome birthday boy!
Shane's art talent comes in very handy sometimes!
Uncle Anton is the plane master!

One of Sawyer's favorite gifts was a riding Mater truck. At first, he was excited to sit on it.
Then he realized it moved and wasn't so sure!
He wouldn't try again until Abby put baby Jack on with him. If a baby could ride, so could he!
Once he got the hang of it, he was having the time of his life! Everyone took turns helping him steer. He still needs work!

Pure joy!

2 Years Old!

Sawyer turned 2 on Thursday! We feel like this past year just flew by. Weren't we just celebrating his first birthday? We sure love our 2 year old. This month he decided to start talking! He hardly ever stops now. He will attempt to say any word, key word attempt. Some of my favorites are yogurt=oogie, spatula=ba, and vacuum=baum. Don't have any idea where those came from! Abby was 'bobby' for a few days, but now he is really great at saying her name. He is totally obsessed with cars, most especially trucks and buses. Every time we drive by a bus, I hear BUS from the backseat! He also loves that my brother John drives a truck. He often says John, pause, truck. The two must go together!
We just moved into our new house at the end of April! Sawyer is now sleeping in our old queen sized bed. He made the transition really well! He also has his own walk-in closet, which is his new playroom. Toys tucked away, my favorite part of his room!
We sure love our boy! Here are his 2 year old pictures.

Easter 2012

We had a really great Easter weekend. Sawyer and I went down to Price to visit with my grandparents Vuksinick and hang out with family. Then on Sunday, we went to my grandparents' Dixon for lunch with everyone. It is so great to be able to see family for the holidays! Lastly, we went to visit Shane's parents on Sunday evening. Lots of family time this weekend!
Here is Sawyer's Easter basket. He loved opening the eggs most.

Grammie spoiled him as usual and got him some fun Easter presents. His favorite were his boom (squirt gun) and his tra-ta (tractor). Thanks Grammie and Poppa!
I decided an almost 2 year old's Easter wouldn't be complete without a little Easter egg hunt. So I quickly hid some eggs in our front yard. At first, he was very confused as to why he needed to gather eggs. But eventually he got the hang of it!

23 Months

T minus one month until 2 years old. How??? We sure do have a darling boy! He makes us so happy (most of the time!) This month has brought about big changes with his language development. Up until this point, he had said about 20 words total. This month alone he added another 35. Wow, can we say talking explosion?!? I started keeping a list of his new words on my phone when the number reached about 10. I'm glad that I did because there is no way I would have remembered them all. I'm going to attempt to write them all and include his pronunciation. Bear with me!
Again (gen), Horse (orse), Pan/Fan/Pants/Plane (all sound like dan), Night night (ni ni), Bowl (bol), Boots (boo), Box (baa), Peek a boo (bo booo), Elbow (bobow), Robot (botbot), Jack (gak), Ow, Corn (coorn), Cow (coaw), Hot (ottt), Pot (bot), Barn (baam), Truck (cuck), Ball (bawl), Popper (papaa), Done (dun), Bone (boan), Go, Clean (kean), Jeans (jeen), No no, Cracker (kacker), Jacket (jacka), Fork (ort), Cup (bup), and Please (easse). He also now says Mmmmm when he eats something yummy! So cute.
He has a book with a dog that has his tongue hanging out, so one day I made a panting noise when we saw him. Now Sawyer's favorite thing to do in that book is to find the dog and pant away! Here are his 23 month pictures. What a stud!

22 Months

Sawyer is 22 months. He is getting so big and independent. He has learned several new words again this month. He can say spoon (poo, yes it is quite funny!), poppa (paaapa, for my dad), duck (duu), and the phrase 'oh yah!' It is so cute when he says this! He also answers 'yah' when you ask him questions now. Just yesterday he said balloon (booo) and today he said banana (nana). Clearly he only goes at his own pace! He has also decided to start calling Shane 'da da' and me 'ma ma'. Even though he could say them before, he hardly ever actually called us by our names.
He has become very obsessed with cars this month. I think it is because there was a building going up behind our house and he saw the workers driving all sorts of trucks back there. So now he loves to play with cars and do his cooking. He also loves driving in the car and pointing out all of the cars he sees, especially big trucks or buses.
I finally decided it was time to let him start feeding himself with a spoon. He has used a fork for a while now, but I kept putting off the spoon. But he is actually really good at it. Maybe it paid to put it off for a while. Less mess for mommy! But now of course he never wants help feeding himself anymore. I guess the independence is a good thing, but it makes me a little bit sad.
Here is our sweet boy at 22 months.

21 Months

Sawyer is 21 months today. I guess I better start thinking about his 2nd birthday party soon. Wow! This month Sawyer learned several new words. Proving to me that he can say things, he just chooses not to. He learned car (canngh), clock (coack), boom, coat (coa), and key. Notice almost all of them start with the 'k' sound. I also did a cheer one day about something and said, wooohoo, his response was wooooo. So cute! Now I make him cheer all the time. He still asks 'what's that' a lot, when I tell him what it is, he responds with hmmmm. One thing that isn't necessarily new, but I haven't ever remembered to post about are his hugs. He LOVES to give hugs. Squeeze you tight, hugs. But these also include pats on the back. I think we must have patted his back every time we hugged him, and now he thinks that's what a hug should include. :) He still naps on my bed, but now instead of crying when he wakes up, he just gets down and comes to find me. Which is good, I guess. It's probably about time to move him up to a big boy bed. He still loves playing with daddy, but his new favorite thing is to have his own controller and sit on the couch to play xBox. He loves to be snuggled up to daddy's side, with a blanket on his lap, while they push buttons and bond. When he is eating something hot (temperature) or spicy, he will grab at his tongue and try to pull off the hot. So funny! My favorite thing this month is his 'trying to open something' face. He must have seen one of us struggling to open something and pulling a face, because he thinks the two go hand in hand. I included a video, because words just can't describe. Love you, my little luv bug.

 Gonna get you, mommy!

 Gotta have my trusty spatula!

Open it face, classic. Don't mind my grunting!
